You Can Bite This Book

Big things often come in small packages and Bite this Book: the book you read to your dog definitely does!

From a Dog’s Point of View

Bite this Book is a little book packed with heartfelt illustrations and simple, touching poems written by author Lony Ruhmann’s dog Juve, along with his pals Zoey, Maggie, Teddy, Sophie and Rocky.

Some poems in Bite this Book rhyme, some don’t, some are long and some are short. But every one is fun to read out loud while providing a glimpse into your dog’s world and her heart. More samples are found on the Bite this Book website.

Meet the Squirrel

The poem “The Squirrel” is so much fun to read out loud to your dog.

We read it to Tripawds Spokesdog Wyatt Ray and it sure got his attention!

THE SQUIRREL (by Teddy)

I hear an Intruder,
Bark, Bark, Bark.
My Job is to Find the Intruder.
Where are You?
Ha, Ha, I See You!
Bark, Bark, Bark.
Got to Get Closer.
Good, You are Close Now.
My Job is to Get You.
Do You Hear Me?
Bark, Bark, Bark.
You Run,
Or I Will Nab You.

This sweet book is fun way to spend quiet time with your pooch.

Some dogs like Wyatt who are affected by ADHD (Active Dog Hyperactive Discorder) might find it a little hard to concentrate but other dogs with calmer demeanors will enjoy hearing you read these stories from a dog’s point of view.

Kids will especially find it fun to practice their reading while spending time with their best friend.

  2. We brought our beloved Pippin home today after surgery to remove his hind leg due to cancer. He is our first tripawd dog. I would love to read this book for Pippin as I think it would aid in his recovery. He is already getting around great. He’s our big brave boy!
